SEARCH TIPS
AND, OR and NOT
As well as simply typing in a keyword or a phrase into the Translink search engine, you can use the words AND, OR and NOT to perform more advanced searches.
For example, if you want to search for pages with the words 'chairman' and 'report' in (but not necessarily together as a phrase), simply enter 'chairman AND report' in the search field.
If you want to search for pages with the word 'chairman' or the word 'report', enter 'chairman OR report'.
If you want to search for pages with the word 'chairman' but not the word 'report', enter 'chairman NOT report'.
Remember, you must type the words AND, OR, and NOT in uppercase for them to work in this way. In the unlikely event of you wanting to search for the word 'AND' (or any of the other special words) in a document, you can turn off its functions using the / (backslash) character. So entering '/AND' will search the Translink site for pages containing the word 'AND' in uppercase characters.
You can use the wildcard character, * (asterisk) to broaden your search.
For example, if you are not sure whether Translink has a chairman, a chairwoman or a chairperson, you can search for all pages containing words beginning with 'chair' simply by entering 'chair*'.
Put quotation marks around keywords if you want the search to take them literally.
Example
"buses and trains"
The search will literally look for the complete phrase buses and trains. But if you type the same query without the quotation marks:
buses and trains
The search searches all documents for the words buses and trains on the same page. This search would also include all occurrences of the phrase buses and trains.
