Excellent public transport is the right choice for the community, for the environment and for sustainable development. Through educating young people we want to encourage more people to think about the benefits of public transport, help reduce traffic congestion and contribute to a healthier environment for all. |
Eco Schools - Transport
Eco-Schools is a recognised International award scheme, rewarding and accrediting schools who have made a commitment to continuously improving their environmental performance. It is also a learning resource, raising awareness of environmental issues through activities that link to curriculum subjects.

The aim of the Eco-Schools programme is to make environmental awareness and actions an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of the school and also the wider community, both for pupils and for staff.
|
Schools that have successfully completed all the elements of the programme are awarded the ‘Green-Flag’. This award has now become a well-recognised Eco-Label and has to be renewed every two years. Translink and TIDY NI have joined forces to get schools involved in this Eco-schools project and in particular to look at the Transport theme.
